How individuals relate to one another within the workplace is clearly an important factor in how organisations work; particularly in the context of issues like effective leadership, communication, teamwork and that elusive concept, organisational culture. However, work relations is a relatively unexplored aspect of the work experience; most research is designed to assess either individual behaviours in isolation or broad organisational themes.

Work Relations investigates how individuals relate to work colleagues on dimensions that illuminate different internalised conceptual models of relationship. These internal cognitive models affect - and have been found to predict - many work-related attributes, including assessed performance. This theory-based measure provides information not only about how individuals relate to one another at work, but also, importantly, why they relate as they do.

The measure - which is the outcome of a recently completed doctoral thesis and has already been tested within a number of multi-national corporations - is designed particularly for those who are interested in individual, team, and organisational development. It can be employed as a self-report measure, or in a 360-degree feedback format; on its own, or in conjunction with other psychometrics and measures of performance.
